What is the Process of Custom Designing a Web Site with Doxia?

When you get in touch with Doxia Web Design, we want to make sure your experience is a positive one. Here is the journey we take together ...

Step 1: Information Gathering

The first step in designing a successful web site is to gather information. We call this the "brainstorming session" where we talk with you about your desires for a web site. Many things need to be taken into considerationProcess of custom designing a website when we design the look and feel of your site, so we ask a lot of questions to help us understand your business and your needs in a web site.

We work hard to understand your specific business requirements, processes, image and overall vision.  The knowledge we garner during this process helps shape our approach to an internet strategy that is going to work best in supporting your business goals and the needs of your visitors.

To help in the process, there are certain things you should consider and be prepared to discuss.  These are:

Purpose
What is the purpose of the website? Do you want to provide information, promote a service, sell a product?

Goals
What do you hope to accomplish by having this web site?

Target Audience
Who are the specific group of people that will be your potential customers? It is helpful to picture the “ideal” person you want to visit your web site. Consider their age, gender, interests, as well as their pressing need – this will help us determine the best design style for your site.

This is a critical piece to the design and development of your site.  To structure the website correctly, it’s vital to accurately define the profile of the visitor, what the needs and goals are as they visit your site.  Why did they search for you in the first place?  What are they hoping you can do for them?

Content
What kind of information will the target audience be looking for on your site? Are they looking for specific information, a particular product or service?  Do they have a specific problem or need that you can help with?

Step 2:  Planning and Proposal

Using the information gathered from step one, we put together a plan for your web site.  We develop a proposal that outlines in detail what we discussed, presenting you with our quote.  Should this meet with your approval, a signed contract and a deposit of 25% down begins the website development process.

Step 3:  The Prototype

From the information we gathered in step one, we develop a prototype that presents the proposed look and feel of the site.

You are then given access to a secure area of our web site which allows you to view the prototype (and subsequently your project throughout the design and development stages).  Most importantly, it gives you the opportunity to give us your feedback on the site design.

With your input, we adjust, tweak and make the necessary changes to get the design exactly the way you want it.

Step 4:  Website Development

This is the "meat and potatoes" step where the web site itself is created. We take all of the individual graphic elements from the prototype along with the content you have provided and use them to create the functional web site.  As we complete a page, you are again given a link to view that page in our secure demo area of our website to provide us with your feedback, suggesting any additional changes or corrections you would like to have done.  We keep you involved through the entire development process - this is your site and we want you to be an integral part of its development.

Step 5:  Testing / PostingWhat is the process for designing a website

We are nearly done!  During this step we focus our attention on the final details and test your web site on all browsers and OS platforms. This step is critical as it helps us ensure that your site is optimized to be viewed properly in the most recent browser versions. During this time you are also giving the site a final "once over" to make sure it meets with your approval.

Once we receive your final thumbs-up, it is time to post the site to the web host server. As we upload the files to the host, we test it all again in the live environment to make sure that all files have been uploaded correctly, and that the site continues to be fully functional. This marks the official launch of your site, as it is now viewable to the public.

Step 6:  The Continuing Relationship with Doxia

Now that your website is live, it's important to remember that the development of your web site is not necessarily over. One way to bring repeat visitors to your site and to help with higher rankings in the search engines is to offer new content or products on a regular basis.
